Most magazine and catalog (even some advertisements) are bright and pastel-like.
Keep that in mind when shooting
I'm gonna do separate tutorials on how to get them in
other colors, such as a bluish tint or a yellow glare.
Lets start with the hot pink.
as you can see, the pink coloured perfume and sticker
helped enhance my pink mood.
First of all, start with a bright image
(if your image isn't bright enough, duplicate the layer and set it to screen.)
For me, I felt this is too narrow, so I decided to go for the
square 'expansion'
(to make this happen, either lift or lower your cam and shoot)
always make sure you are working on manual focus
so that the focus wont change on you
(you can always put it on auto then switch if you aren't ready
to go full manual)
Then we start working on the photo.
first of all, we brighten it with a curves layer.
output = 142
input = 110
Then, we will remove all white parts and turn them into
pale pink. for that, I added a solid colour layer
I sampled the pink from the bottle, then I set it to multiply.
Colour number: fffbfb
Then, to add more contrast and lighten the image a bit,
we will add another colour layer, but this time we set it to soft light.
Colour number: f8e7dd
Then we will play with the color balance, tinting it red.
Colour levels: Red + 27
make sure you are on midtones.
A subtle desaturation with -10
-
and then a simple vignetting.
to get that effect, select a circle in the middle of your image, inverse
then add a curves layer, darken it as much as needed and click ok.
click on the layer mask and Gaussian blur it at the highest radius.
Hope you enjoyed it and it was clear and easy..
Thank you.
