This was really fun to make !!
First of all, here is a picture of a sky I took a while back
in rainy Liverpool-England <3
I edited out the building and the light post.
simple patch and clone stamp.
Then I tinted the skies purple
and added another image of a field I also took in Liverpool.
Then I reconstructed some of the skies.
and done some editing to the field.
mostly playing around with the red and green in the
colour balance and curves.
Then of course came the girl
Minor hair and raven / crow editing.
TEXTURES !
I have around 5 textures here.
with lowered opacity and some are desaturated
so that they wont effect my colour tones.
Some vignetting.
and presto !
Its Closer Than You Think.
Very cool! I always struggle with putting the person on the ground. In this way you have a clear ground - clear sky - and the feet are just out of view.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at this picture

I struggled with getting the model to look grounded in the alley.
Quick question - what did you do to the hair? It looks great and really adds to the image!
Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI looked at your picture, the model doesn't look grounded because of the exposure difference.
The body is perfectly exposed, the background underexposed and the floor is over exposed.
its ok with the background, because its a good technique to help the person stand out. Your main problem is the floor/feet. They have both been lit at different angles.
This is something you should pay really close attention to when doing image manipulations; always make sure that the exposure and lightening angle match perfectly so that the images sorta 'fit' together.
hope that made sense.. if not email me at shaunieconnie@gmail.com and I'll try to explain more at length.
On the other hand, the hair was just simple PS brushes. I think they are called 'hair brushes' or something, check here:

I have used about 3 or 4 types on this one.
Hope that helps =D
Thank you Shaunie!
